Let’s talk about self talk

Let’s Talk About Self-Talk
Because What You Say to Yourself… Matters
Dear friend,
Today, we’re breaking up with bad self-talk.
Not just because it’s mean.
But because it’s exhausting—and you deserve better.
Have you ever noticed how much time you spend talking to yourself?
Not out loud (hopefully), but in your head.
Narrating your day. Replaying awkward conversations.
Second-guessing your choices. Critiquing your reflection.
I have too. And I’ll be honest—it’s not always kind in there.
The Voice That Doesn’t Rest
Studies show we have tens of thousands of thoughts a day—some say up to 60,000.
And around 70–80% of them?
Negative.
That means many of us are walking through our day with a little inner bully whispering:
“You’re behind.”
“You’ll never get it right.”
“Why do you even bother?”
And we start blaming the devil, right?
But one of my favorite teachers, Jim Richards, once said:
“That’s not the devil. That’s you, you little devil.”
Sometimes the harshest voice in our lives… is our own.
So you, sweet girl—you little devil—stop talking so mean to yourself.
You Have More Power Than You Think
Here’s the good news: if the voice is yours, then the script can change.
Right now. Today.
Because people who walk in confidence don’t do it by accident.
They don’t sit around repeating the worst things they’ve ever thought.
They speak truth.
They speak life.
They speak like someone who’s heard from heaven.
Scripture for the Journey
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
—Romans 12:2 (NIV)
“Whatever is true, noble, lovely, admirable—think about such things.”
—Philippians 4:8 (NIV)
Affirmation
I speak to myself with love and truth.
I release harshness and receive grace.
I’m not my own worst enemy—I’m becoming my own safe place.
Prayer
Father,
I’ve let too many thoughts live rent-free in my mind.
I’ve said things to myself that You never would.
Help me retrain my thoughts.
Help me be kinder to the woman You created.
Let my inner voice reflect Your love.
Amen.
From One Friend to Another
You’re tending to your life like a well-loved garden—
pulling weeds, choosing beauty, and making space for new blooms.
This season?
You’re paving a beautiful path—and it shows.
Let’s be women who speak softly to ourselves.
Who choose kindness over critique.
Who laugh at our old patterns and rise into new ones.
You’re not alone in this, friend.
And I’m cheering you on—every honest, beautiful step of the way.
Summer Joie de Vivre: Speak Sweetly, Sip Slowly
Today, treat yourself to a quiet refresh.
Pour a sparkling club soda over ice in your prettiest glass.
Add fresh lime slices and a few sprigs of mint—bonus points if you grew it yourself.
(Summer Tip: Mint is one of the easiest herbs to grow, and it’ll make you feel like a garden party hostess every single day.)
Take that first crisp sip. Step outside.
And say something kind to yourself—out loud if you have to.
Because your words matter.
And this summer?
You’re speaking life.
