Friday week one : A Summer Romance

Friday: A Summer Romance, Reimagined
Theme: Refresh and Bloom Your Marriage

We’ve all heard the phrases: “summer of love,” “summer fling,” “summer romance.”
They sound like something from a movie—new, exciting, passionate. But here’s a thought…

Who says summer romance is only for the young or newly dating?

What if you made this your Summer of Romance—with your own husband?

Yes, even if life is busy. Even if things have felt a little dull. Even if the kids have taken center stage.
You don’t need a vacation or a perfect plan—just a little spark of intention.

This summer, let’s date our husbands again.
Be his hot girlfriend. Be playful. Be intentional. Be present.
Flirt again.
Put on  that special dress—the one he can’t take his eyes off.
“Baby, that red dress brings me to my knees… oh, but that black dress makes it hard to breathe.”
Or buy a sexy little number for home
Send him a sweet or flirty message during the day.
Pray for your intimacy.
Plan something simple and romantic—just because.

Date Night Idea:
Think candlelight, a bottle of wine, and a playlist that sets the mood—maybe even a little Marvin Gaye.
Dance slowly in the dark under the stars—or even in the kitchen.
If the weather turns, dance in the rain.

“ Baby last night was hands down
One of the best nights
That I've had no doubt
Between the bottle of wine
And the look in your eyes and the Marvin Gaye
Then we danced in the dark under September stars in the pourin rain”
Thomas Rhett
I absolutely love how this song captures a perfect evening! Let it inspire you for yours 😍

Let it be a moment you both remember.

Marriage doesn’t have to feel like a business partnership or a parenting survival team.
It can feel like a love story again—with real laughter, attraction, and connection.

This Week’s Challenge:
Plan one dreamy date night this week—at home or out.
Keep it lighthearted, romantic, and full of little touches that say “you still have my heart.”
If you have kids, create an after-hours moment just for the two of you.

Bonus:
Make a Summer Romance playlist
Cook something special—or just pick up your favorite takeout and eat it by candlelight.
Light a fire or string up twinkle lights.
And for you: wear something you feel beautiful in. Confidence is magnetic.

Make Grapefruit Basil Martinis
(Combine fresh grapefruit juice, gin, basil simple syrup, and ice. Refreshing and delicious!)
Serve in your prettiest glasses and toast to “us.”

A Summer Romance Prayer

Father,
Thank You for the gift of love, and for the partner You’ve given me.
No matter what season our marriage is in, I pray for renewed connection, joy, and intimacy.
Help me be present. Help me be open. Help me give and receive love freely.
Soften our hearts toward each other. Let laughter return where it’s been missing, and closeness return where we’ve felt far.
Help me enjoy my marriage—and help me be the kind of wife who keeps romance alive.
Let this be our summer to reconnect, to flirt again, and to have fun together.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

For the Single Woman: A Summer Romance with Your Own Life
Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you’re sitting this one out.
This season, you’re invited to romance your own life—because beauty, joy, and refreshment aren’t reserved for couples.

You deserve to feel special. To slow down. To be delighted.
So tonight, treat yourself to a simple little celebration—just because you’re worth it.

Here’s your Friday night idea:
Order your favorite takeout (zero guilt).
Pour a cold, refreshing Coke over ice—extra fizzy.
Make buttery popcorn in the good bowl.
Pick a cozy, feel-good movie—something light, sweet, maybe a little nostalgic.
Curl up with a new summer read or pick up a few fun magazines to flip through.

Light a candle. Slip into something soft. Let tonight be a gentle exhale.

This is your reminder:
You are whole. You are worthy. And you get to enjoy your life right now—not “someday.”

Romance isn’t just about someone else showing up for you.
It’s about you showing up for yourself—with love, with care, and with peace in your heart.

A Prayer for the Single Woman
Lord,
You see my heart—even the quiet parts I don’t always share.
You know the ache I carry, whether I’m waiting on love or grieving the loss of it.
Some days I feel strong and full, and others… I just feel alone.

But tonight, I invite You into the quiet.
Remind me that I’m not forgotten. That my story is still unfolding.
Help me to enjoy my life now, to savor the sweetness in front of me, and to trust You with the rest.

Fill the lonely places with Your peace.
Fill the waiting places with purpose.
And when the time is right—if it’s part of Your plan—bring someone into my life who honors what You’ve built in me.

But until then…
Help me to live.
Help me to love my life.
And help me to know I am already deeply loved by You.

Amen
