Christmas pound cake

My grama’s Christmas cherry pound cake


There is something special about making recipes from the past. I found this old day planner of mine from when I was 20 and it had this recipe of my gramas messily written in it  and what I love about doing my blog is I get to preserve some of these special things and share with the people I love .

This recipe is my grama Yvonne’s pound cake though it doesn’t say cherries my mom said her mom would add maraschino cherries 🍒 to hers so that’s what I like to do and it’s so festive



2cups of butter

2cups of sugar


1tbls of vanilla

4cups of flour

1/2 teaspoons salt

1/2 teaspoons of mase


For the cake:

  • Put all the ingredients except the cherries into a large bowl and mix well with a mixer or in a food processor.
  • Add the cherries and fold in with a large spoon until they are evenly distributed through the mixture.
  • Cook for 45-60 minutes until well risen and golden and a toothpick comes out clean
  • Take the cake out of the oven and leave in the tin for 10 minutes before

Enjoy with coffee ☕️ or tea 🫖
