90s vibes and wilson's pizza
Posted on April 28 2020
Take me back to the nineties!
In the 90s in our little town there was this little resturaunt called wilson's pizza, they had the most amazing perogies unlike anyone else!
My best friend and I spent many of nights in our teen years there having coffee for hours and hours sampling all the different things on the menu, but theres one thing that stands out in my mind the most its Wilsons Pizza's Perogies!!
I married the love of my life in '97 with our baby girl at home we created our new tradition on fridays! We would pick up pizza from Panagopolous pizza, which is now called Panago Pizza, and then pop over to Wilson's Pizza for their delicious perogies. We would also rent our 10 movies for 10$ from Video Update. It was a very happy season in our life. There is nothing I love more than recreating things for my kids to show them the different things we used to do and the movies we used to watch.
My favourite food memories usually incorporated one of my favourite food friends Jennifer. Whether its whisking cheese sauce or having a family BBQ, we have always bonded over food. So when we were talking not too long ago she mentioned she had the recipe for this sauce for the perogies!!! Well my husband and I had to try it right away. So we whipped up a batch of perogies and dip. Even though the perogies are delicious, the dip really brings the whole experience home!
From Jen
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup miracle whip
1/2 bacon bits
powdered ranch dressing
Now for the perogies you can always buy pre made perogies but my husband being the ambitious chef made them from scratch
The filling
3 potatoes
1 tbls of butter
2 garlic cloves
1/4 cup of onion
1/2 tsp of creole, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder and salt and pepper to taste
The dough
2 cups of flour
1 tsp of salt
2/3 cup of water (cold)
1 egg (beaten)
1. combine all the dough ingredients in mixer to make dough then set aside
2. boil potatoes until soft, strain wait until dry, dry mash, add butter, mash, add milk, and sour cream, mash, add all seasoning and stir until nice and smooth
3. roll out dough and cut out large circles add a tablespoon of filling fold and pinch edges.
4. fry in butter until crispy ( wilsons actually deep fried so if you want to deep you won't be disapointed)
Our top movie picks to give you those happy fun 90's vibes!
Ace Ventura
dumb and dumber
cable guy
what about bob
Tommy Boy
Wedding singer
My cousin Vinny
Liar Liar
The Naked gun series
